Android – Google’s Operating system for Mobile Phones

image Android is an open source operating system for mobile phones. The first phone is already out in New York and we will be very soon seeing more companies using this operating system. The biggest advantage of Android is that its open source and any body can modify the software without needing to take any permission from Google. The OS is still in the stage of inception, but has addressed most of the expected features. Android enables developers and mobile phone manufacturers, mobile operators to develop applications and offer features to the consumers. The first Mobile phone with Android operating system is called G1 and the hardware is developed by HTC, very popular mobile phone developer.

Android works on Linux version for core system like the memory management, security, process management, etc. Linux kernel acts as an abstraction layer between the software and the machine.
