Blog Posting Tips – [Day 6]

In Chapter 5, we will discussing some important aspects of Content Writing. Content writing should be given the highest priority because, the strength of a blog is the content. Even if you have a good blog design or whatever best you have, the success of your blog will depend mainly on the content.

We had discussed content writing tips in the previous chapter which should have given you a good idea on writing a page. This post will cover some bonus tips which will help you in better search engine ranking and improving the readability.

Writing Best Title for your Blog Post

Title has to be given enough importance as title helps in making the reading attempting to read the post. Other important factor is the Search Engine. Search Engine indexes the page giving some consideration to the <h1><h2> tags. So you need to make sure that the title has some key words, but make sure that you do not disappoint your reader using misleading titles. There is no pointing getting indexed on search engine by adding tricky titles. I would suggest to use the “All in one SEO Plugin” which has the feature to re-write meta titles which helps in better search engine ranking.

Categorizing & Tagging your blog post

Every post should be categorized. Its advised to keep less number of categories and tag the posts according to the topic covered in the post. We should understand that categories will help the visitors to navigate to different sections. Suppose you write about Recipes, you can have categories like Vegetarian, Non Vegetarian, etc. If  a visitor is looking for vegetarian recipes and  you have categorised the posts well, he will find it very easy to go through all the vegetarian recipes. I would suggest to add “noindex” tag to avoid indexing the category pages (Will go into details of this in future chapter related to SEO).

Tagging is something which should be used in right way. Tagging can even replace searching if you are tagging the posts well. You should try to re-use tags and should be sensible.

Interlinking Blog Posts (Internal Links)

Connecting your blog using internal links is also very important. Interlinking the blog posts will help you in making the visitor spend more time on your blog and better search engine indexing. When you mention about a particular topic and you have a more elaborate page on that topic, you should always have the Word linked to that page. When you link to a page, you should make sure that you are adding the linking to the keyword rather than saying “You can find more information here“.
