Oscar winning actor Cliff Robertson died just a day after his 88 birthday. Robertson was born on September 9, 1923 in Los Angeles, California and started his film career in the year 1943. Robertson won the Academy Award for the Best Actor in 1968 for his role in the movie ‘Charly’, in which he portrayed a mentally disabled bakery janitor, Charly Gordon. Robertson is well known for role as Lt. John F. Kennedy in the film PT 109, for which he was handpicked personally by the John F. Kennedy in 1963. He has acted in many films during his six decade long film career and his last screen appearance was in Spiderman-3 as the Uncle Ben Parker.
Robertson also played a real-life role as a whistle-blower in a cheque-forging scandal. Robertson found that his name had been forged in a Cheque amounted to $10,000 which was done by David Begelman, then head of the Columbia pictures. This really rocked the Hollywood in late 1970’s. He has acted in 60’s Batman series movies.
Robertson passed away due to natural causes at Stony Brook University Medical Center on Long Island.
