Chicken Masala – Indian Style

chicken-masalaNow a days there is no party without a chicken dish and many says if there is a chicken curry, it substitutes at least 10 vegetarian dishes. Here i am preparing a chicken dish with less ingredients and the preparation time is also less.

  1. Chicken – 1 kg medium
  2. Garam Masala – 2 tbsp
  3. Onion – 2 cups (grated)
  4. ginger paste – 1 tbsp
  5. garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  6. kashmiri chillies – 3 tbsp
  7. coriander powder – 2 tbsp
  8. turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  9. salt to taste
  10. cooking oil – 3 tbsp
  11. fresh coriander leaves – 2 tbsp chopped

Method of Preparation:

  • Cut chicken into 2″ pieces, wash and strain using a colander
  • Marinate chicken with garam masala and salt, keep aside for 1 hr
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and fry grated onion and ginger-garlic paste with little salt until the oil separates
  • Add coriander powder, chilli powder and turmeric powder and saute well
  • add chicken pieces and stir well until all the chicken pieces are covered with the fried masala
  • cook without covering for 15 mins but stir well in between and ones chicken is done well cover and cook for another 10 mins in 1/4 cup water
  • Add coriander leaves and serve when it is cooled to room temperature with fried rice, roti or pulao
