Choosing the right affiliate program

If you are into affiliate marketing, you will be looking for affiliate programs to promote and get some sales. There are lots of affiliate programs available, but we do not know which one would work the best for us. It depends on your blog or the mode of promotion that you use to promote your affiliate sales.

Tips to select the right affiliate program

Type of products

You will be promoting some products as an affiliate. I would suggest to select programs that has some relation with your blog or website. Selecting related products can help in more conversion. For example if you have a blog where you write reviews about camera’s, it would be best to join affiliate programs which sell camera or accessories of cameras.

Affiliate Promotion Tools

Check if the affiliate program provides you with sufficient promotional materials like banners, text links, promotional emails etc. Its very important that you have good promotional tools for the affiliate program

Affiliate commission

Most of the affiliate programs pays 20 to 50% of the sales value. Make sure that you are getting paid for the efforts you put into for making conversions

Minimum Payout of affiliate commissions

Please read the terms and conditions of the affiliate program you are planning to join. Some affiliate programs pay monthly, some instantly and some set a minimum payout amount. You should be comfortable with the terms and conditions. Some affiliate programs pay only by cheques, some pay through paypal

Demography

Some affiliate programs are restricted by region. If you do not have much traffic from the region where the affiliate program works, then do not join such affiliate programs. If a program supports only US customers and you have less than 5% of your visitors from US, then there is no point working for such affiliate programs

Tracking System

Most of the affiliate programs provide complete statistics of sales, traffic, referring URL’s  and conversion. This is very important to promote the affiliate program. So it’s very important that the affiliate program provides you with the best information to track the traffic you provide to that particular affiliate programThese are a few points that came to my mind while writing this post.
