Commonwealth Games, Will it bring pride to India ?

The countdown for the Delhi Commonwealth Games have begun. Hardly 11 days to go and when we watch news channels in India, we see a lot of mess being discussed which starts from big scams, security issues, work not complete, bridges falling down and more and more things. Are these issues or discussions watched only by we Indians or is it watched across the globe? If it is watched by the participating countries, then I am sure they would be very much reluctant to come for the Games.

There are also news that some countries have decided to step back from participating in the Delhi Commonwealth games. If we are able to show the best ever commonwealth games we can be proud of that or will we have to be ashamed that we are not yet capable to hold such mega events. 70,000 crores have been spend directly and indirectly for this Games which includes the funds spent for the development of Delhi. Delhi can be considered to be a world class city now, no beggars, but they left out some stray dogs, metro ready and many more things which we need to see by visiting Delhi.

The media is not sparing Suresh Kalmadi who claims this commonwealth games is his baby. He bagged it for India and he will be leading the show. He has also assured that this will be the best ever Commonwealth Games held. If things go fine, we are proud and if it fails who will take the responsibility. A big team is working day and night to make this event a grant success and show the world that India is capable to do it.

There are lot of allegations related to the commonwealth games which needs to be investigated and the culprits need to booked, but should we now go for such actions and stall the games or should we wait till the games are over and start the investigation part. Many experts are of the opinion that Suresh Kalmadi should be removed, but I feel it should have been done atleast a year back. We bagged this games 7 years back and we had 7 years to prepare for this. Were we sleeping till the last moment? Things should have moved much faster and we should have been fully ready atleast 1-2 months before the players were expected to arrive for the games.

Lets hope for the best and stop hyping things, every Indian citizen should work hard to make this game a big success, its not just the responsibility of the CWC. I am sure there are lots of mismanagement and corruption involved in this, every thing should be investigated as its the tax payers money which is being spent.
