Copy Paste feature for iPhone

clipboard-iphone Copy paste feature which is something very much used as far as I am concerned is missing in iPhone by default. But the good news is that I have got it working using the application called Clippy. You can install this through Cydia only if you have Jailbroken your iPhone. The advantage of this application is that the copy paste feature works application wide which means that you can copy text from an email and paste it to your SMS box or from SMS to email, or notes or other applications which uses the default keyboard.

Install the software and restart the springboard. Open any email or note and to copy a text, just press the 123 / ABC toggle key on your keyboard, you will see the copy paste button as you see in the picture. Then click on copy and select the text that you want to copy. Once selected, press the copy button again and then go to the application that where you want to paste. If the text is copied to the clipboard, you will find the text visible as you see in this picture. Once you open the application where you want to paste the text, and click the paste button. I just tried this application a few times and its working fine for me. Please note that you cannot install this application without jailbreaking your iPhone. I jailbroke my iPhone few weeks back, and I did not find any problem with my iPhone, you can also do that. With Cydia and Installer you get access to a wide range of application which is not available with Apple App Store. I was using Magicpad to copy paste text, but that works only within itself.

Apple has not yet opened Application wide information sharing so its not possible to develop applications which can run in background. This could be for security reasons, but I cannot understand why Apple has not implemented clipboard feature. It should also add features to send attachments through emails, and forward SMS.
