Deepika Kumari becomes the world’s No.1 archer
Deepika Kumari became the world’s No.1 archer last week. She is the second Indian woman archer to achieve this position. Dola Banerjee was the first Indian woman archer to achieve this position before Deepika Kumari. She is the current junior World Champion and a gold medalist at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. She will be representing India in the upcoming London Olympics 2012. She won her first World Cup individual recurve gold medal at Antalya, Turkey by defeating Korea’s Lee Sung Jin.
Deepika Kumari was born in the city of Ranchi, in the state of Jharkhand, India on 13 June, 1998.
