Dreamliner is the last hope for Air India
American aircraft maker Boeing will fly its most anticipated and state-of-the-art airplane, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner , to India next week, probably on July 13 or July 16. It will be one of the lightest planes to have taken to the skies ever.
The Boeing’s Dreamliner is touted as a super fuel-efficient airplane that can carry up to 290 passengers and fly 15,750 kilometers at a stretch. Air India has ordered for 27 of them and will receive its first October. Air India has already made plans to operate it on the Delhi-Mumbai-Melbourne route. . Air India placed the order in 2005 and will get two in November and one more in December after the first delivery in October.
“While we apologise for being late, we hope when you fly this airplane and see its capabilities, you’ll forgive us.” said Executive Vice President, Boeing James Albaugh.
Air India sought compensation from the US manufacturer for their delay in deliveries for 3 years. But not sure of the amount of compensation.
