First case at Supreme court of Maldives

Today was a historic day in Maldives. The first case that was filed with the Supreme court of Maldives since it was established under the new constitution.

The case was against the ruling President filed by the Social Liberation Party challenging the Election commissions decision to allow President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to contest in the upcoming multi-party presidential elections.

The date for the next hearing is not yet decided
