Hacked by GHoST61 – My Blog Got Hacked

My blog got hacked – One of my friend called me and told that my blog is hacked. I thought it was a joke, but when I opened my blog I saw the front page as shown below.

I immediately logged in using FTP and checked my files were intact, but there was a new index.html file which was showing this page. I renamed the file and checked my site and found to be working fine.

I changed my passwords and got into finding out the reason for this. After googling I found lots of site being hacked and even google has indexed those pages

The reason for getting my blog hacked was that I had CHMOD my root directory to 777 during some debugging work and forgot to revert back the read / write access. So make sure that you have your folder permissions right. Some plugins may ask you to change the read/write properties of folders, but this is putting your site at risk to such hackers. Luckily I did not lose any data or files.

    I had a client’s wordpress blog hacked at one point and,after searching forums a bit, I found this fantastic groupof security guys which cleaned up my client’s wordpresssite within 30 minutes!     Google adsense also hacked your site :P On a more serious note; my hoster got hacked by Ghost61, copied over ALL my sites index.html, but also index.php and root.html. I’m getting them back up now, but the problem is on a deeper level I guess, so I notified the hoster.

    My site was cracked as well by this “person”. Curiously I’m not using any commercial software. All the scripts on my site are home-made by myself! (Well, my blog isn’t made by myself, but was made by a friend and AFAIK is not a well-known software). So I think he’s using a bug or something from Apache or PHP themselves.

    Haha, The same thing happened to me. Except I did not have anything on my site (no index file) So he went in and created one with hidden meta data to porn sites plus he added other html files with info on who hacked me.So check your files again so you’re not helping his porn site get better ranking on Google.
