How to become an iOS Developer?

by Kishore on July 23, 2011

Becoming an iOS developer does not have to be considered as a big task if you are a developer with some experience in C / C / Java. You need to have a MAC machine as you cannot do the coding part without a MAC machine. I have read that you can do it from windows, but its too much of pain. If you are planning to get into developing iOS applications, then you should have a good MAC machine, an iPhone atleast, good if you have an iPad too if you are planning to write apps exclusively for iPad.

So coming to the topic of this this post – Steps to become an iOS developer

First you should make up your mind, if you are new to Objective C that you will do it. The codes may scare you when you start, which happend to me too, but if you are decided, you will really enjoy coding and writing intersting apps.

Registering as an iOS developer

I would always recommend that you register as an iOS developer and get access to all the support from Apple. You also get access to all the beta releases and believe me its really fun. The registration process is simple, just start off with your Apple ID if you have one or you can create one for free. Once you fill up the form and fax it to Apple, you will get an approval email within a week’s time (I got it on the 5th day), make the payment (US$ 99) and you are done.
