Human Rights concerned with government plans to dismiss staff

image After the new Government has taken over after the Presidential Election in Maldives, there are lots of changes. To reduce the Government financial burden the new Government has decided to cut down on the number of government jobs.

There is a big insecurity feeling for the Government employees in Maldives which even includes the civil service employees. The Government even has an idea of asking employees who are aged above 55 to go for voluntary retirement.

The Human Rights Commission has met with the Civil Services Commission to express concern over talk that a lot of Civil Servants are going to be dismissed due to changes in the government structure
