Indigo Airlines to start flight to Maldives from India

Currently we Air India and Maldivian operating flights directly from Male’ to different cities in India (mostly Trivandrum). Sometimes its very difficult to get tickets and it would be good if new destinations in India are covered like Chennai / Hyderabad / Kochi from where there are lots of expatriates from India working in Maldives.

It’s good to hear that IndiGo is planning to start its operation by August 2011 (Need to wait about 7 months). IndiGo Airlines is one the top private airlines in India which holds about 16.8% of the Indian domestic market. There were also rumours of Air India Express operating flights from Kochi to Male’ during 2007, but things did not work out.

We had Air Sahara operating from Bangalore to Male’, but as you know Air Sahara no longer exists, but Air India is operating flights from Bangalore everyday. Now GMR is operating the Male’ International Airport and we hope the Male’ International airport is taken to a different level in a very short period as we have good flow of international tourists coming to Maldives for vacations.
