Is Twitter Encouraging for you ?

I not going to explain what twitter is for the reason that if you do not know what twitter is then you are going the wrong way. Twitter is used by millions which includes celebrities, multinational companies, internet markets, blogger and last and not the least spammers. Now the question is how twitter is effective for you and is it worth spending time on twitter. I am a twitter user since its inception and to be very frank, I am not addicted to it and its of not much use to me. I was into twitter vigorously for a few months now and last night I was studying my last month twitter stats using Google Analytics. I was checking the amount of traffic that twitter has given to me and was upsetting for me to note that its not working well for me.

Reasons of my failure on twitter

1. I am not a celebrity
2. I am not a popular person on the web
3. I don’t tweet great stuff
4. I do not have power twitter users as my followers
5. I am not consistent on twitter
6. I have not tried to impress people on twitter
7. I have not tried to get followers on twitter
8. I have never promoted my twitter account on my blog
9. Never tried to reply to others tweet or ask questions on twitter to others
10. And could be many other reasons like I don’t re-tweet much or I look like a spammer or something which I do not know

Having a twitter account is not a great deal, but having a twitter account which is powerful and which is watched by others is something important. There should be some reasons for people to click on the link that you tweet or follow you. If you are just tweeting for the sake of using tweeter then its really of no use. For me twitter is useful to find information, latest news, etc but not really to market my products or sell stuff. I really do not have good friends on twitter nor I get any questions or I do ask any questions on twitter.

How to use Twitter Effectively?

After finding my faults, I did a reasearch on using twitter effectively

To be popular on twitter and get real followers, you need to do much better things on twitter. You may get 1000′s of followers like following unknown people who will follow you back not because they want to follow your tweets, but this is an automated process to follow back using some scripts or software. Such followers are of no use because they are not going to even read your tweets. People who follow 1000′s of users cannot read each and every tweet they get on the friends timeline which you would agree.

Most of the tweeter power users either follow only useful tweeter accounts or they create lists which they really like to read and ignore the others, so you need to be so effective that you should get listed into such lists.

So next time you use twitter make sure that you follow some rules which you should frame for yourself. My rules are listed below

1. Follow people whom you are really interested in
2. Reply to tweets and help other if you find somebody asking questions to you
3. Don’t shy to ask questions to others, you may get a reply and could be that person follow you if he/she find your question interesting.
4. Search for people near you and talk to them
5. Don’t work like a spammer, try to be informative and tweet stuffs that are interesting.

How twitter can be useful for you?

1. You can get thelatest updates news from Twitter
2. Twitter can be used as search engine
3. Ask questions to celebrities
4. Announce your products information on Twitter
5. Experiment things and learn more as you go on.

Twitter is a wonderful tool to communicate with the World and Twitter has made money for many. If you use twitter in the right way I am sure you can do well on twitter. It may work well for some and may not for the others. If you are coming in the second part, then you need to change your strategy and try new things.
