Luck Favoured Saina Nehwal to Win a Bronze Medal in London Olympics 2012

 

Saina Nehwal won a Bronze Medal in the London Olympic 2012 women’s singles badminton when her Chinese opponent Xin Wang withdrew due to knee injury. In fact, Xin Wang was leading Saina 21-18, 1-0 before a knee injury. Saina Nehwal declared winner when her Xin Wang retired due to injury.

With her Bronze medal, she became the second Indian woman athlete to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleswari’s bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in women’s weightlifting.
