Disadvantage of magazine style theme is that your blog won’t look fresh if you are not posting articles regularly in all the categories on your blog consistently. Blogs which are updated everyday with good number of posts should use magazine style theme rather than the blog style. Advantage of using magazine style theme for blogs is your front page looks great and has access to posts in a well organized manner. Magazine style themes usually shows only the snippets by default which is a good feature, but this can also be achieved on a blog style theme.
