Pookot Lake in Wayanad

Wayanad is one of the most beautiful scenic hill station district in Kerala. Wayanad is blessed with waterfalls, lakes, beautiful climate, tea and coffee plantations, thick forests, wild animals, etc. One of the natural attractions of Wayanad is the Pookot Lake. It is a natural fresh water lake brimmed with evergreen mountain slopes and forests. The lake has lot of fresh water fishes and blue lotus.

Pookot Lake tourist resort in Vythiri is just 3 kms away from Vythiri and 15 kms away from Kalpetta, the district capital of Wayanad. This lake destination is one of the most visited tourist spot in Wayanad. It entertains both national and foreign crowd at the same spirit.

A fresh water aquarium and a small but neatly maintained children’s park on the banks of the lake offers unlimited entertainment for its kids tourists. Once you enter the Pookot lake tourist resort, you can see shops which sells spices and handicrafts, plant nursery, fresh home made chocolate selling shops, etc..

Pookot lake offers boating facilities to its visitors. Boating services include Pedal boat, Row boat, and Kayak. Separate charges will be charged for each service. The charges for pedal boat is Rs.30/two persons and Rs. 50/four persons,  for Row boat Rs. 50/four persons and Rs. 100/- is charged for 30 mins of kayaking. The entry fee is Rs.10/- for an adult and Rs. 5/- for children. Separate charges are to be paid for camera Rs. 10/- and Rs. 100/- for using video camera.

Honey, coffee, tea, spice like cardamom are available at best bargain from Pookot lake. When travel to Pookot Lake area, you better stop at least 1km away from your destination and go by walk. You won’t miss the natural beauty of the Pookot and experience many things which cannot be expressed simply through words.
