Preeja Sreedharan gets Arjuna Award

National Sports awards are announced and 19 sports personalities were eligible for the Arjuna Award including Zaheer Khan (Cricket) and Preeja Sreedharan (Athletics). Gagan Narang gets Khel Ratna.

Preeja Sreedharan (born 13 March 1982 at Mullakkanam, Kerala) is an Indian long-distance runner. She won gold medal in the 10000 meter event and Silver in 5000 metres in the Guangzhou Asian Games. She holds Indian National Record for both 5000 and 10,000 metres. Preeja has got selected as Manorama Newsmaker of the year 2010.Arjuna Awards were instituted in 1961 by the government of India to recognize outstanding achievement in National sports. The award carries a cash prize of Indian Rupee 500,000, a bronze statuette of Arjuna and a scroll.Congratulations Preeja!!!!!!!!!
