The date for the upcoming Presidential election in Maldives has been fixed on the 8th of October. This will be a historical election as this election is a much different from the elections held till now in the History of Maldives.

There are about 209,000 eligible voters and this time there will a large number of young Maldivian in the age range of 18-21 who can vote under the new constitution and this will really impact the results of the election. Most of the candidates are busy with the election campaign travelling to different islands even though its Ramadan Month going on.

The candidates as of now for the forthcoming elections in Maldives are

DRP leader President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom , Mohamed Nasheed, Anni from MDP, independent former Attorney General Dr. Hassan Saeed, former Finance Minister millionaire Gasim Ibrahim from JP, Umar Naseed from IDP and independent Idhham Muizzu

I could not get any picture of independent candidate Idhham Muizzu.

Miadhu Quotes – The history making presidential election is going to take place during the Eid holidays just after the Holy month of Ramazan fasting. There are several concerns about not having enough time for campaigning, especially during the month of Ramazan. But most of the presidential candidates have been campaigning for the past few months and most candidates appear to be comfortable about the time they availed for campaigning
