“Scotia Prince” to ferry between India and Srilanka

A passenger ferry service between India and Srilanka will begin from 13 June, 2011. The ferry service will be flagged off by G.K. Vasan, Union Minister for Shipping at Tuticorin. Scotia Prince, the ship, will be sailing between the two ports, Colombo and Tuticorin.  The ferry service is provided for twice a week. The service is provided by the Flemingo Liners, for which it acquired a license for 7 years.

Scotia Prince has nine decks which can accommodate 1,044 passengers and 300 tonnes of cargo. The distance is covered in 14 hours.
