The Kochi Times Film Awards 2011 announced

The Kochi Times Film Awards is the awards instituted by the Times of India to choose the best from the Malayalam film industry on various categories. The first edition of the Kochi Times Film Awards 2011 is announced, Mohanlal and Kavya Madhavan walked away with the award for Best Actor male and Best Actor female for the roles in Pranayam and Gaddhama respectively.

Ranjith along with his movie Indian Rupee got the awards for the Best Director and Best Movie. The all time villain of Malayalam Cinema Baburaj got award for Best actor in a Comic Role for the movie Salt n’ Pepper and the all the Comedian Jagathy Sreekumar villain this time for his role in Urumi. Vijay Yesudas became the Best Male singer for his Ee Puzhayum song in Indian Rupee and Shreya Ghoshal became the best female singer for her song Paattil ee Paattil and for the same song ONV Kurup won the award for the Best Lyrics for the movie Pranayam.

Bobby-Sanjay won the Best Screen Play award for the movie Traffic. Ratheesh Vega became the Best Music Director for his song Mazhaneer Thullikal in the movie Beautiful and Meghna Raj got the Promising Newcomer award for her role in the same movie. Master Alexander became the Best Child Actor for his role in TD Dasan STD 6B and Chappa Kurish became the Best Youth Film.

The selection process was done through the online polling for one month.
